Taking care of your e-bike
E-bikes are all the rage. If you’ve joined in the craze, you’ll need to know how to take care of your electric bike. Servicing your e-bike isn’t difficult or expensive but it is imperative if you want it to last.
Although the price of e-bikes is becoming more affordable, it’s still an investment. With proper servicing, you will increase the length of its lifecycle and help ensure it runs great during the course of it.
The best defense is an offense where your electric bike is concerned. To make sure your bike stays in great condition, be sure to do the following things:
Top it Off
Don’t get stuck out with an e-bike that runs out of juice. Top-up your battery when you get a chance instead of waiting for it to go dead just as you need it!. There will be less wear and tear on the battery and on your bike.
Check it Out
Keep an eye on things like your tires and the overall look and feel of your bike. If something seems wrong, it probably is. Don’t wait to investigate. It’s also a good idea to have it inspected and tuned up annually. If you ride a good bit, have it checked twice a year at least. Tires, brakes, and steering are among the main areas of concern to keep an eye on.
Keep it Clean
Cleaning your bike on a regular basis will help prevent problems. Otherwise, dirt and grime get stuck in the nooks and crannies, causing undue stress on your bike. Pay special attention to the chain and make sure to lubricate it after cleaning off any build up gunk. Keep the tires free of mud and dirt too.
No matter how well you look after you take of your e-bike, it is bound to need repairing every now and then. By being prepared for issues, you’ll be able to have it fixed and back up and running in no time.
Secure a Shop
Have a repair shop already scoped out. That way, you don’t have to depend on finding someone to work on your bike when it already needs repair. Rush repairs are rarely optimal. But, if you know where to take it and what to expect, the process can be a lot less painful and less expensive too.
Crash Course in Safety
Accidents are the number one source of e-bike problems that warrant the need for repair. By practicing safe driving habits and knowing your limits and your bike’s limits, you can avoid having to have it repaired for the most part.
It all breaks down to the fact that if you take good care of your bike, it will take good care of you.
